Quote:
Sony has confirming that LittleBigPlanet is to miss its planned October 24 UK release date after Muslim groups complained about music used in the game.

"During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur'an…"

Muslim groups had complained that mixing words from the Qur'an with music is deeply offensive and demanded Sony take immediate action.

This is just so ridiculous! You can bet your life if the Pope complained about it being offensive to use words from the Bible no one would have taken a blind bit of notice.

Why do we allow Muslims to control us in this way? Confused

I don't understand. I thought that Muslims were called to prayer by people singing out from the minarets, or something like that. Wouldn't those songs include words from the Koran? I doubt that they are secular in nature. So how can it be "deeply offensive" to mix music with holy words? Although I admit to knowing very little about it. Maybe they're really singing translations of Beatles songs or something.

The muslim call to prayer is considered more of a chant than music.

Its ok to recite the Qu'ran/koran (sp?) in what seems like song, when it is actually a style of chanting.

I have to agree with VG though, that when a Christian group rightfully or wrongfully complains about something it is never taken seriously. If the complaint comes from muslims, even if a ludicrous complaint it is treated very seriously. Mad

The muslim call to prayer at Mecca, Saudi Arabia... (its not music or singing, its chanting apparently)...

that lot really annoy me. Hellbent on stifling free speech and freedom of expression yet different story when it comes to their own freedom of expression - this veil wearing stuff for example.
