I'm in agreement with paying compensation to people who suffer wrongful arrest but is this a reasonable amount? Would Mr Stagg have been able to earn this amount in a year....I doubt it!

Frankly, I'd be more than happy to spend a year in the nick for that sort of payment.

He did himself few favours when interviewed on TV recently and said "...it was like winning the lottery!"

Having said that, his reputation is trashed, and his name synonymous with Wimbledon Common so future employers may well have a bias...

Though the fact that the Met suggested that they were 'not looking for any other suspects' after his release may colour many peoples viewpoint. Shocked

Erm.. this wasn't just 'wrongful arrest'. He deserves every penny.

because he was picked out to have a case made against him and spent a year in custody on account of it. That's not just "wrongful arrest" - that's "you're copping it for this lad". Rolling Eyes
