| We like peppermint tea also, and always have some in the cupboard for an upset stomach, but, for a doctor to prescribe that without even examining a patient properly is inexcusable. |

Well not really because GP's tend to try and exhaust all the simplest and most likely causes first using the least intrusive means.
Only when a problem seems sufficently serious or when other interventions have failed will they further investigate. _________________ http://www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk/ |

Its more like, try the simplest things first or the most likely explanations first.
When you're paying you can have any scan/test you like whether it was worthwile or not. _________________ http://www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk/ |

Well, she prodded my stomach and asked if it hurt, to which I replied: "Yes, you're prodding my stomach".
She didn't listen to all of my symptoms. She seemed to satisfy herself fairly early on that it was 'stress' related and that was pretty much that from thereon in. Since that appointment, just over a week ago, I've been chucking up every morning and we can now throw diarrhoea into the mix as well. I've also suffered a prenounced loss of appetite (including the fact that I haven't eaten chocolate at all in over three days, which is completely unheard of!) and some light sensitivity, occasionally accompanied by rather nasty headaches.
My problem is because of the CRIMINALLY inflexible working hours of our GPs, getting a second opinion means taking yet more time off work and I simply cannot afford it.

It sounds like a viral infection Blue, for which all you can really do is take lots of fluids. I would try another doctor though ASAP as it could be serious. _________________ http://www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk/ |

| I agree with Wakey, go see someone ASAP if you haven't already. Vomiting and having the drizzling shits is no way to live, and you certainly don't want to wait around until you pass out somewhere. |

| I agree with the other's Blue ... get thee to the ER (where they will do some tests) before you get any worse and end up there with no choice. |

To be honest I dont think I'd go to A&E with sickness and diarrhoea, I'd feel the more appropriate route would be to get a home visit from a doctor. They usually refer you to A&E anyway if its more than a mild complaint. _________________ http://www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk/ |
