Middle-aged women who drink one glass of wine a night increase their risk of breast cancer by 60 per cent, an alarming new study shows.

Frankly, I think this is absolute rubbish. Just a few months ago the medical profession were recommending a glass of wine a day as being good for ones heart.

There are so many of these studies now, all coming up with conflicting recommendations that people are no longer inclined to take any notice of them. Sadly, I'm afraid, this means that the one study with a really crucial and accurate result will probably be ignored.

Anyhoo, this is one study I definitely intend to ignore.

Cheers. Cool

I'm not giving up wine because of this!

You just can't figure out what to believe. I remember that when I was in college, it was well-known that the birth control pill provided some protection against breast cancer. These days, I believe the story is that it increases the risk of breast cancer. I don't know if perhaps the Pill has changed so much over the years that this aspect has changed, or what. They can't both be true. Sometimes I think the "moral majority" influences these pronouncements so that they can scare us out of things that they don't approve of.

I'd probably ignore this kind of advise anyway, but it certainly doesn't help that they're continually changing their minds. One day tea is better then coffee, then it's the other way around and then back again, white wine is good and red wine is bad and then vice versa... who cares any more?

All things in moderation. We aren't going to live forever and I'm certainly not going to forgo a glass of wine because some study says wine may increase my chances of breast cancer. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow and I'll never get breast cancer.
