I live a few miles outside town but it is (with Oakham) my stomping ground, yes. _________________

Lovely pics MM, the Beeb filmed Middlemarch in Stamford if i remember rightly; doh i am such a period drama bore.
Burghley house is on my list of must see's, i have done Castle Howard Harewood house and Chatsworth so far.
Poor mr CB gets dragged with me to the local family stately home whenever we go anywhere, now that is eyeroll territory. I just love nosing and imagining if these walls could talk. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Not only that, Pride and Prejudice (2004), The Da Vinci Code (2006) and
The Golden Bowl (2000) were filmed there too and at Burghley. I know that some people here think I'm a bit of a troll, but I'm not that bad (well, some of the time!), so if you are ever in this neck of the woods, you must let me know. I know exactly what you mean, some of the ye olde ceilings at Burghley were painted by a chap who used his wife as a model for the representation of the devil, and his mistress as the nymph.
It a great house to rummage around. _________________

Michele, could you possibly resize some of the pictures on here so that we don't have to keep scrolling across to read the posts?
Thank you, pleash! _________________ Girls are like phones. We love to be held and talked to, but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected! |

Oops, I just noticed this, but now the pictures are gone. If someone puts them back, I'll be happy to resize them to be suitable. |
