I don't like the "Maniac Weirdo kills them all one by one" films like Friday 13th and Halloween. Went to see Friday 13th when it came out, we nearly got thrown out for laughing too much. Well what's a horror film like that to a group of girls who survived the nightspots of Essex every weekend. _________________ If it ain't broke................hit it again. |

I don't like the zombie movies, either. A bunch of decomposing bodies eating live people is not my idea of entertainment.
As to the slasher movies, I really like some, and think others are junk. I like Halloween and Halloween 2, and watch them every year on Halloween. The Nightmare on Elm Street ones were ok. I never got into Friday the 13th.
As to laughing in a horror movie, I went to see The Exorcist with two friends when we were in high school when it came out. We actually thought it was hilarious, especially the head-turning and projectile vomiting (this is deliciously - pun intended - skewered in the movie Repossesed, starring Linda Blair and Leslie Nielson). And yet is is generally considered to be one of the best horror movies ever. |

| I seem to have a new channel called FearNet, but I have no idea what is on it, as they never seem to say specifically. Does anyone know anything about it? I'm not even sure if it is included in my package, since I've never tried to watch it. |

I actually think that's a classic, but in a 'guilty pleasure' way.
The worst one by far is The Village.
What a load of crap it is... |

Yeah, I was really impressed by The Sixth Sense and Signs, but The Village disappointed me - not up to Shyamalan's usual standard, IMHO.
Another really acclaimed one I couldn't stand was The Blair Witch Project. Oh, and The Grudge (the American one; haven't seen the Japanese one, but I assume it has a similar plot and storyline). I did really like The Ring. |

The Exorcist spoof Repossessed was hilarious! In fact it could have been the sequel to The Exorcist, they were both equally hilarious.
I always laugh at the possessed Regan's giggling and sarcastic comments.
-------
The WORST horror film I ever saw was IT starring Tim Curry. It wasnt scary, it wasnt interesting, it was completely boring and one of the crappest films I've ever seen.
I dont like stupid films, such as possessed dolls, or axe/knife/chainsaw wielding maniacs. Such films are more farce than horror.
I like certain zombie films, I find them more interesting than scary though, and I like some sci-fi horrors such as Aliens - that WAS scary the first time and I thouroughly enjoyed it! _________________ http://www.realradioyorkshire.co.uk/ |

i think i like zombie films purely for the `what if` questions it provokes-which is why im hooked on a book called the walking dead-its purpose is to follow a story of a groupof survivors as they survive in a zombie apocalypse-currently they have set up home in a priosn where they grow food int eh grounds and use the armoury from the Prison to man watch towers-suppse a state penitentiarry with 4 fences and 20 foot walls is the safest place to be if your settin up a new life away from zombies. _________________ Manchester, when death isnt enougth |

| I know it's considered a classic but I really didn't like Dawn of the Dead. Oh, and 28 Days Later was yuck! |

Er kan sumwun klarify sumfink for me?
We are talking about the "Worst" Horror Flim right?
Does that mean the most badly made one?
or
Does that mean the one that you found provided the best scare factor?
For me I guess in the first category it would be that old favourite "Plan 9 from Outta Space" - OK I know you can also class it as the worse Sci-Fi also but it did supposedly involve raising the dead to prey on the living.
As for the second category then I have to say the original 1979 Alien did it - nowadays of course you can buy plastic models of the monster as kids toys but way back then we had had more than our share of weird-doggies and thirsty-bats even the Slashers and Zombs seemed to have nothing new to show us. However in 79 that thing in Alien was another matter first time around it was so unworldly creepy especially that strange faceless head with just a hideous double jaw and no eyes it was a real mould breaker. Of course now when you see it the impact is totally lost. I think what also helped was the way it was shot so that you never really got a good clear view of whole creature until right near the end. The later sequels may though the use of CGI have been able to have many more aliens doing many more athletic moves but then quantity does not always beat quality. |

If it were definition 'B' I'd agree with you, Noggin. Alien was certainly in a class of it's own when it comes to the scare factor.
However, I assumed this thread to be relating to definition 'A' and there are so many appallingly bad horror films it's difficult to choose. All those dreadful B movies for starters.
The film that comes to mind is the famous cult classic 'Forbidden Planet'. With its cardboard sets and Robbie the Robot, it really was diabolically crass and yet there was somrthing delightfully appealing about it. _________________ Girls are like phones.
