| Quote: | Internal critics of Gordon Brown were urged to rally behind the under-fire Prime Minister as he admitted he was "ready for a holiday".
Former cabinet minister David Blunkett said rebels should "grow up" and concentrate on policy in the wake of the catastrophic Glasgow East by-election defeat.
And Justice Secretary Jack Straw made it known colleagues should close ranks amid widespread reports of plotting behind the scenes among senior colleagues.
As negotiations continued between ministers, unions and activists formulating the party's next manifesto, Mr Brown arrived in East Anglia to start a family holiday.
"I think everybody's ready for a holiday at this time of year," he said. "Some people have very important jobs in the summer and have got to work... But I am looking forward to spending a few days with my very young children." |
Gordon Brown says he is ready for a holiday and the country is certainly ready for a holiday from him!

But who is running the country while GB is playing with his bucket and spade... ? Oh yes, I forgot - 'big business' and the unelected quangos will continue to do so, whether GB is here or in Lowerstoft... _________________ .

Yes, what we need is complete change - get rid of GB and all his cronies and lets install a new regime with sound morals, a desire to serve, and an ability to make tough decisions, irrespective of whether anyone likes them.... seems like a job description which would suit VG (apart from the first two requirements of course)! _________________ .

I am so glad that you recognise my authority in all matters MM and that I will not hesitate to exert that authority and damn the consequences! _________________ Girls are like phones. We love to be held and talked to, but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected! |
