My sister and I are taking my elderly Mum on holiday to Cornwall and as it is rather hilly and she's not so steady on her pins these days we decided to hire a wheelchair for the week.
I found a rental company in the area and the price was only £25 for the week which I thought was really good value. I was also delighted to find that they deliver and collect the wheelchair straight to your door.
The company is only about a 15 minute drive from my home so you can imagine my surprise when they informed me that the charge for delivery and collection would be £30.
How can they possibly justify that sort of charge?
Needless to say I will be collecting and returning it myself. _________________ Girls are like phones. We love to be held and talked to, but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected! |

| You can hire wheelchairs from the Red Cross for about a tenner a week. You do have to collect and drop them off yourself though. |

Whatever .... if it helps yer mum, it'll be worth it.
Being over here has taught me that when your mum's in need and you're a few complications (miles, animals etc)away, it's good to be there no matter what.
We can buy a wheelchair over here at Walgreens for $90.00 (That might have been on sale in last weeks flyer but I know they are pretty inexpensive)
Terry hired one for me when I broke my ankle and because I had trouibles with the other ankle, I couldn't use crutches. That was $30.00 a month to rent.

I'm using one for a few weeks because of my broken leg. My daughter works with adults with learning disabilities and the facility has a spare one that no-one is using so her boss has let me borrow it.
The cheapest one I've seen in the UK, to buy is £140.00 ($280.00) |
