Hi,
Sorry that I've not been around much, I've got a broken leg, two weeks ago up in Yorkshire, in the Dales. Slipped on mud and heard it crack as it broke. Almost had to be rescued by the Sea King helicopter as the place is so remote but somehow I was levered into the car.
Fractured tibia and am in a cast for another four weeks. |

Poor Girl. How terrible for you. I hope you were given lots of nice pain killers and TLC. Heal quickly. |

Thank you. Four more weeks until the cast comes off. So far I don't need surgery to have it pinned but if the fracture moves or my toes turn black I'll have to have it done.
Crutches are deigned to break your other leg, they are ok when it's dry under foot but any hint of moisture and they skid from under you. I've also been loaned a wheelchair...these things are designed to break knuckles and arms when you get jammed between the door and the chair if you don't judge it right. Stairs are out, tried to get upstairs on my bottom..no chance, my right leg must be my leading leg. So I'm sleeping in the little family room off the kitchen.
Hubby has discovered that he can wheel me right up to the sink and the cooker. I of course can't possibly lift hot pans of the stove...milking it for all it's worth. |

Oh what bad luck Jen, time for the knitting needles. Summer is not a good time to have a cast on. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Jen I'm so sorry to hear what has happened to you. I was wondering where you were as you hadn't been around for a few days and I was going to pm you at The Voodoo Kitchen but my laptop crashed and I've lost the link.
Perhaps you could let me have it as they must be wondering why I haven't been around. _________________ Girls are like phones. We love to be held and talked to, but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected! |

I feel your pain Jen. I broke my ankle not so long ago (out walking for my health ) I ended up with a bright hotpink cast. Bloody garish but a great conversation piece.
Mend soon and just think how good it will feel to shave that leg !!!

I asked for a hotpink cast too, to match my hotpink phone but they'd run out of pink. So I chose red, to match my car and wheelchair. Thankfully the swelling has gone down a lot, Thought I was going to have to take a trip to outpatients the other day to have the cast taken off it was so tight.
In x-ray the other day a little boy, aged seven, and I were waiting be zapped, he had a full leg cast on, from toes to upper thigh. Poor little lamb, he had been in a car accident. He had a bright red cast on too so we signed each others casts. |

I hope you feel better soon Jen and your leg heals nicely.
Many years ago when we lived in Florida I tore up my knee (dancing to Trini Lopez!!) and had to have a mid calf to thing cast for 3 months. I've never been so miserable. |

| Ouch! I've broken my ankle twice now, the last time was in '04. I was in London at the time and never was seen for it. I know, silly me! |
