Why is it, that when I make a concerted effort to curb my spending til payday, I end up spending more than I did over the same period the previous month when I wasn't trying to curb it? |

| I don't know....but in a similar vein do you ever notice that when you have some extra cash suddenly something really expensive happens and there goes all of your money? I mean it's great that you have the cash to pay for it, but then all of those hopes of doing somehting extravagant or even just being prudent and saving it are dashed in an instant. Why does that happen? |

There are a number of possible reasons for this phenomena, Merak:
1) You're rubbish at managing your money.
2) You spend without thinking about it.
3) You have no idea what things cost.
4) You can't add up.
5) You don't earn as much as you think you do.
6) You're not spending your money, someone is actually stealing it.
7) You're not spending your money but you've got holes in your pockets.
and by far the most likely explanation.....it's caused by global warming. _________________ Girls are like phones. We love to be held and talked to, but if you press the wrong button you'll be disconnected! |

| Could it be the shrinking dollar? Or pound in Merak's case? |

Lol! I guess I'm thinking more along the lines of what KW said about just when you think you've got some extra cash, something happens that you need to spend it on. This month, I've had 2 impromptu lunches for folk leaving work (neither of which were on the cheap), then yesterday an old workmate who I've not seen in yonks phoned me to say she was in town and did I fancy meeting up for a beer. Could've said no I suppose but then who knows when the next time would come round, so couldn't pass it up. And of course the stag night last Sat that I'd forgotten about. Oh, and not forgetting the twice I've lost my fags out my pocket this month. And I did a balance transfer of my credit card to another card and thought that I basically had a month off in terms of repayment cause they'd start from early next month. No. First payment due 3 days before payday. The gods are having a larf this month!
Must be that global warming, right enough! |

Yep, it helps burn those holes in your pockets. |
